Dental plaque is caused by insufficient and irregular oral hygiene. It is important that certain toothpastes can also be a source of molecules that damage tooth enamel and thus enable faster formation of dental plaque due to the accumulation of microbes. At the site of tooth damage, various chemical reactions occur with saliva and food, leading to additional microbial deposition. Not only the teeth are exposed, but also the gums and tongue. We can often clean our teeth well, but forget about the tongue, which is also a source of plaque. When brushing our teeth, we must also brush the tongue all the way to the throat. This is especially important in conditions such as inflammation of the throat and sinuses, which contribute to increased salivation, microbial deposition and thus plaque. It is recommended that we visit the dentist at least once every six months to remove plaque or tartar.
