DENTAL PLAQUE

WHAT IS DENTAL PLAQUE?

Dental plaque is caused by insufficient and irregular oral hygiene. It is important that certain toothpastes can also be a source of molecules that damage tooth enamel and thus enable faster formation of dental plaque due to the accumulation of microbes. At the site of tooth damage, various chemical reactions occur with saliva and food, leading to additional microbial deposition. Not only the teeth are exposed, but also the gums and tongue. We can often clean our teeth well, but forget about the tongue, which is also a source of plaque. When brushing our teeth, we must also brush the tongue all the way to the throat. This is especially important in conditions such as inflammation of the throat and sinuses, which contribute to increased salivation, microbial deposition and thus plaque. It is recommended that we visit the dentist at least once every six months to remove plaque or tartar.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

  • Bad breath,
  • teeth slightly change colour to yellow,
  • white tongue,
  • gums are sensitive to brushing and flossing (occasional bleeding that stops).

INFECTIOUSNESS AND TRANSMISSION

The disease can be transmitted via infected objects (brushes, poorly cleaned jars, etc.) if the main source of dental plaque is bacteria. Dental plaque develops more quickly in chronic patients because of a weakened immune system.

HOW TO GET RID OF PLAQUE?

It is easiest to visit a dentist, who removes our dental plaque. We also make sure that we do not have any concomitant untreated inflammations such as viral or bacterial throat infections, asymptomatic angina or pneumonia, which can further contribute to the faster accumulation of plaque. We need to choose quality toothbrushes that will also clean the interdental spaces well, use dental floss correctly and choose non-aggressive toothpastes.

ENIKAM RECOMMENDS:
OROXID
oral solution & oral spray

OROXID is a solution used to maintain oral hygiene and healthy gums and to help with inflammations in the oral cavity. It is recommended as a complementary oral hygiene for fixed dental appliances, partial dentures, fixed prosthetic replacements (veneers, bridges), and dental implants. It improves oral hygiene in people with orthodontic anomalies that complicate normal dental hygiene. OROXID can help prevent dental plaque, tooth discolouration and bad breath. It also helps reduce plaque on the tongue and oral mucosa. OROXID forte is intended for more intensive oral hygiene and the prevention and alleviation of periodontal diseases, such as irritated, bleeding and inflamed gums. It helps relieve gingivitis, periodontitis or inflammation after gum damage due to surgery or tooth extraction. OROXID sensitive is intended for daily oral hygiene. It is suitable for long-term use and for people with sensitive oral mucosa. It is recommended as daily oral hygiene, especially for people who are prone to inflammatory changes in the oral cavity (smokers, diabetics, individuals with a weakened immune system, etc.). Use OROXID oral spray or solution two to three times a day during or after brushing your teeth.
